On Friday 2 September Andrew and Thomas headed to Canberra for the ACT Interschool's Cross Country race. Thomas was invited by the Teacher to be team manager for the day as he's still not allowed to ride. Even though Andrew is only in Year 8 at School, he had to race in the College Division as there wasn't enough to make a team in his division. Andrew pulled some pretty good times in his 3 laps and the team ended up 8th overall out of about 80 teams. Pretty good effort really.
For the first time, there was a Downhill race on the Saturday. As this was an individual event, Andrew was able to race in the Junior Division (Year 7 & 8). ACT Schools has had gravity races before but not a full on DH race. Andrew was stoked with this new addition to the program. Practice started at 9 and he managed to get in about 5 practice runs before seeding. Andrew ended up seeding first in Division, just ahead of Joel.
Andrew had a really good race run, winning his division by over 2 seconds. His time also placed him 2nd overall out of all Divisions.
